Nostalgia and Nigel Benn
On my days off, I love to sit on the terrace and youtube chase. Just thinking of things in the past and reliving them!

So today im watching a Nigel Benn documentary. West Ham fan, proper fighter, former fusilier - do they make them like that anymore? or am I just looking at things through rose tinted glasses?

what are ur memories of nigel benn?

next on list is Kaylor..specifically Kaylor and that fucking wanker Christie

Thought he was a Man U supporter after the Ince incident.

Re: Nostalgia and Nigel Benn

Re: Nostalgia and Nigel Benn
Didn't think Benn was West Ham?? Pretty sure I saw him in a man U shirt with Incey??

Main memory of Nigel was a load of us trying to find a boozer that was showing his fight with Gerarld McClellan ... pretty sure we had played Chelsea at home... bit of grief down Barking Road afterwards.. ended up in a boozer in harold Wood... packed it was and as rabid atmosphere ever known watching boxing... remember `You can stick your fucking pitbulls up your arse' being the chant of choice... bumped into Wicksy and Todd Carty in there.. nice fellas... still to this day I dont think I have ever seen a more brutal fight... and glad that G-Mac got mashed up... and still is

One of my favourite boxers.

The West Ham accociation comes more from Tony Tucker and Carlton Leech doesn't it?

You reckon him and Eubank will get it on again?

HairySpotter 3:15 Tue Jul 21
Re: Nostalgia and Nigel Benn
never will he step in ring again!

but likewise, we will never see another Benn type

That was the first kit I had as a kid. Might have been the last kit with AVCO on.

he isn't a West ham fan he is a Man U fan and has stated it many times.

A good fighter, but not great and a fucking lousy human being.

Yeah that was my feeling Bush Man...

Must admit he was never the same after G-Mac fight... went all religious and preachey... but in his earlier days for pure box office excitement he was top botch...

The McClellan fight is my favourite ever, won't see anything like it again. Probably wouldn't have made it past the round if it happened now.

HairySpotter 3:25 Tue Jul 21
Re: Nostalgia and Nigel Benn
Marston - yup, he was put out of the ring, I think its usually automatically done then isn't it?

but the fight was fucking mega. trouble is, cos of the aftermath, people resist to refer to it. was immense.

Re: Nostalgia and Nigel Benn
Completely discount the 1st Eubank fight as he weighed in a good half a stone overweight the morning of the fight and spent the entire afternoon shifting it with power runs & laxatives. Was dead on the scales and out on his feet after 6 rounds

Did just about enough to nick the rematch I thought, was the busier fighter early doors and never faded down the stretch like most predicted he would
